Chief Warrant Officer Retired Robert Lowell Leming, age 73, of Austin, Texas, passed away Monday, December 29, 2003 at Seton Hospital with his family at his bedside. Bob was born in Huntington, Indiana on May 7, 1930 to George W. and Josephine E. Leming. He was a graduate of Huntington Catholic High School in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949. He began his military service as Honor Guard for General Eisenhower, but his career field of service was in electronics equipments and its uses and application for military purposes. His last service was as Radar Officer, Field Artillery. He served on three continents and served two tours in Vietnam. Bob received 13 medals and 4 citations, which includes the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Accommodation, WWII Victory, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and Presidential Unit citation. He was manager of several food service establishments; the most recent were Olgas Kitchen and Wyatts Cafeterias in Austin and Aquarena Springs Restaurant in San Marcos. Bob was an American Indian and member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carrol R. Leming; his daughter, Kim A. Leming, of Anchorage, Alaska; two sons, Robert T., and Kevin J. and wife Naomi; four grandchildren, Pfc. Teena M. Voitland, Giselle N. Leming, Camille R. Leming, and Daniel J. Leming. He also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Ivan Strass, of Huntington, Indiana; aunt and uncle, Juanita and Roy Moore, of Kokomo, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. Other family members include: mother-in-law, Dorothy Fruechtenicht, of Warren, Indiana; sister-in-law, Charlene Beckman and husband Ron; and lifelong friends, Russ and Donna Broderick, of Huntington, Indiana; and Frank and Betty Owen, of Cascade, Colorado. We are deeply appreciative of the care provided by the many doctors and the 6th floor staff at Seton Hospital. We also want to give thanks to Hospice Austin for their invaluable in-hospital care. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 4, 2004, 2:00 4:00 P.M. at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress, Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M., on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia with full military honors.
