Robert Paul Hudson, 81, of Highland Haven, Tx, went to his heavenly home on June 7th, 2016, where he is now singing with the angels. He was born in El Dorado, Kansas to Paul Grisham Hudson and Mattye Rosella Brent on November 28, 1934. “Burly Bob” was his nickname on the high school football team where he also ran track and played the French horn in the marching band. He went on to Emporia State Teachers College to earn his Bachelors and Masters degrees in education. There he met the love of his life, Nadene Mays Hudson. After he spent 10 years as a teacher and counselor at various high schools, Bob took a position with McGraw-Hill as a representative in the educational testing field. He was a gentle man and a friend to all who knew him. His career allowed him to travel about the country meeting many people and really getting to know them. He thrived in that environment and made many lifelong friends. Before falling ill, Bob enjoyed spending time with friends, singing in the church choir, participating in his church and local community, fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and so much more. He was kind and compassionate, smart and generous and will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Bob never met a stranger and would usually walk up to you with his hand outstretched ready to shake your hand, pat you on the back or give you a big hug. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, 2 loving children: son, Steve Hudson (wife Melanie) and son, Brad Hudson. He has 2 wonderful grandchildren, Lauren and Nicholas Hudson, and extended family members Debbie and Chris (wife Marisa) Gordon. His immediate surviving family members are nephew Gary Holman, nephew Brent Holman (wife Maureen), niece Rhonda Beth Welch (husband Allen), nephew Dale C Allison, Jr (wife Kris) and nephew John Allison. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Virginia Allison and Helen Holman. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at the Highland Lakes United Methodist Church located at 8303 W. RR 1431, Buchanan Dam, Tx 78609 with Rev. Grady Roe officiating. In lieu of flowers you may wish to send memorial contributions to Highland Lakes United Methodist Church, PO Box 1005, Buchannan Dam, Tx 78609 or ALZ.org/donate to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association in his name.
