Our beloved brother, uncle, and friend Rick St. Pierre passed away as gently as he lived his life on November 7, 2023. He was born outside Chicago, IL. on June 11, 1952, the second son of Robert Martin and Mary Kathryn St. Pierre. Raised in a boisterous household that eventually included 5 brothers, he moved with the family to Massachusetts, Texas, and California before settling in Austin for good.
He attended Holy Cross High School in Austin and went on to graduate from St. Edwards University in 1974. He eventually married the love of his life Donna Braden St. Pierre in 1988. Rick and Donna settled in South Austin and enjoyed the company of a parade of canine companions over the years. Paddy the Irish setter dwarfed Darby the cocker spaniel but they all lived a happy life. They loved their dogs as children. Rick and Donna enjoyed Longhorns sports and maintained season tickets to the UT baseball team. They often went to Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo and a little casino therapy. In later years, after Donna passed away, Rick fostered several English setter pups. Invariably, he would adopt each foster which led Oliver, Sam, and Sly to become part of his family. His latest companion Riley the cocker spaniel kept Rick on his toes. Rick had a long career as an identity theft analyst with the Internal Revenue Service and was enjoying retirement and the company of his pets, family, and long-time friends. He adored his many nieces and nephews and was a constant presence at sports events, dance recitals, graduations, holidays, and any family celebration. His unique blend of caring and humor helped galvanize these family ties, no matter the distance. He was the driving force to maintain the bonds with the Murray family on his mother's side of the family in Arizona and was happy to assume the role of family historian, recounting all manner of dates and events. He regaled us all with funny anecdotes and tender reminiscences.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Kathryn St. Pierre, his wife Donna, and brother Bobby. He is survived by his brothers Mark, Ron, Michael and Danny and their families. Plans for a celebration of Rick's life are in progress.
