RB Hall Jr., 88, of Kingsland Texas passed away on October 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Coahoma, Texas on April 12, 1936, RB was raised in Big Spring Texas by his parents RB Sr. and Lois Hall.
RB served in various capacities in several churches while earning his high school diploma, a Bachelor’s Degree from Hardin Simmons University, a Master’s Degree from Southwestern Seminary, and becoming an ordained Baptist minister.
On August 6, 1960, he married the love of his life Helen Anita Taylor in Eastland Texas. In RB’s words…
“It has been a God-given privilege for Helen and me to have served in the Christian Ministry for so long. Over a period of 38 years, since I was 17, we were honored to serve in seven churches as Minister of Music, Youth, and Education … two churches as Pastor (First Baptist Church Littlefield and Anson) … two of our universities (Wayland Baptist and Hardin Simmons)… 17 “interim pastorates” 14 of them were in and around Austin… and the Chaplain of the Texas House of Representatives.”
In 1975, at the age of 38, he was also the Director of the Legislative Division of the House of Representatives at the State Capitol in Austin.
Following his years in the legislature he began purchasing several small businesses in the Austin area, 15 dry cleaners, a limousine company, Grey line Tours of Austin, a travel agency, a picture framing shop, and many more. In addition to being a successful entrepreneur, he was a licensed Real Estate Agent & Business Broker operating as RB Hall Realty.
Throughout their 64 year marriage, he and Helen loved to travel. They started early by taking church groups (typically 40 people) to the Holy Land, Egypt, Africa, etc. Eventually they opened a travel agency (Century Travel) in Austin in 1982. They traveled all over the world and around it twice, visiting over 100 foreign countries.
RB loved God, his family, and his country. He admired eagles and the American flag for the strength and freedom they represented. He loved the early morning, starting each day watching the sunrise over the lake, waiting for the breeze to bring to life the American flag in his front yard. RB wore many hats and touched many lives through his passionate pursuit of a life lived in the service of God.
RB joins his parents and siblings Jeanette, Perry and Phillip in heaven.
He leaves behind his wife Helen; four children Roger Hall (Karen), Kim Hutchings (Dennis), Debbie Hall (Nita), Brent Hall (Amy); four grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Baley, and Taylor. Two sisters, Letress Tavaglione (Mike) of Ft Worth Texas, Phillis Mitchell (James) of Weatherford Texas; and a large extended family.
