Peter Jolin

Peter Jolin A wise and peaceful man passed away in Austin on Saturday, May 22, 2004. Peter Jolin was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on August 3, 1946, but he spent most of his adult life in Texas. He was a man of gifts and talents too numerous to mention. Peter was a psychotherapist; his gentle nature made him an easy person to talk to, and he was always listening. Peter was a conversationalist; he had insightful thoughts and wisdom to share on just about any topic, and he never wasted breath on senseless words. Peter was a pacifist; he rallied against wars present and past, and reminded us to live our lives as nations just as we would as neighbors. Peter was a sailor; he was an avid racer with the Austin Yacht Club, winning numerous races in his sailboat class and teaching many of us how to get from one side of the lake to the other. Peter was a car racer; for many years he built and raced stock cars. Peter was a teacher; most people that spent any time at all around him walked away just a bit more enriched. Peter was a friend; he always told you what you needed to hear, not just what you wanted to hear. Peter was a spiritualist; the nourishment and growth of his soul was his greatest accomplishment, and his spirit will forever walk quietly with the family and friends he leaves behind. Peter was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his son Luke, and his parents Marion and Gerald Jolin. He is survived by his wife Becky, his daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Greg Merritt of San Antonio, and his son and daughter-in-law Sam and Holly Jolin of Galveston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Austin in Peter’s name. Visitation will take place Monday, May 24 from 5 – 7 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, and Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2128 Barton Hills Drive.
