She was born in Victoria, TX to Agnes (Schlebach) and Albert Schoener Sr., on 19 May 1930 as the third child of seven children. She is survived by two sons – David M. (Susan) Brown of Austin, TX and Steven C. Brown of Houston, TX. David and Susan gave her two grandsons – Jared L. Brown of Plano, TX and Justin T. Brown of San Antonio, TX. From the seven children of Albert and Agnes Schoener, there remains one sister – Virgie P. Harlan of Houston, TX. She also has one surviving sister-in-law – Patricia M. Schoener of Houston, TX. The seven children of Albert and Agnes gave her numerous nieces, nephews, their children, and their grandchildren now extending to four living generations. Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billie Ken Brown and siblings Marie Zalesak, Albert “Sonny” Schoener, Jr., Anton Schoener, Franklin Schoener, and Kenneth Schoener.
Although she was primarily a stay-at-home mother, in her early years she worked as a telephone operator at the local phone company and bookkeeper for E. J. Gerdes Construction in Victoria, TX. Long after her sons left home, she worked as a children’s daycare provider in Corpus Christi, TX. Throughout her marriage to her second husband, Billie Ken Brown, she lived in numerous South Texas towns as the family followed the road construction jobs on which her husband worked. The family finally settled in 1970 on land outside of Robstown, TX until she moved in 2012 to The Continental Retirement Community in Austin, TX to be near her son David and his support for her final years. She was a devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church in Robstown for over 30 years. She enjoyed road trip vacations with longtime friends throughout the west and southwest the United States, excursions into Mexico, and a trip to England, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands while visiting her son, David, in London. Throughout her life, she enjoyed fishing with her husband and sons in the lakes, rivers, and Gulf Coast bays of South Texas. Growing and preserving fruits and vegetables were also a big part of her life beginning with her childhood on the family farm during the Depression and culminating with a large garden on the land outside of Robstown.
