Norma Lightner

Norma Faye (Schwartz) Lightner was born on September 12, 1935, to Arnold Schwartz and Alma Loree Wagner. Norma passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022. Norma was born in Oak Hill, Texas and lived in Austin most of her life. On November 22, 1952, Norma married Robert B. Lightner. They were married until Robert’s death in 1981. Together they had four children, Linda, Phyllis, Robert, and Melissa.

Norma is preceded in death by both parents, her sister Peggy McMahan, and brother, Roy Lynn Weaver and two great grandchildren, Asher and Noah. She is survived by her four children, Linda Lightner of Kyle, Phyllis and Duane Thomas of Tarpley, Robert Lightner of Luling, Melissa and Scott Gotcher of Uhland and her sister, Darlene Whitehead of Austin. She had seven grandchildren, Melanie, Melinda, April, Krystal, Justin, Jarrett, and Edward and nine great grandchildren, Andre, Jacob, Hadley, Benjamin, Douglas, Harper Rose, Alyssa, Mason, Maren, and one great great grandchild, Tatum. She also had many nephews, nieces, and cousins in Texas and Virginia.

A graveside service for Norma will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook Walden – Memorial Hill, 13700 North IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Caring Bridge would be appreciated. Caring Bridge makes it much easier for families to disseminate health information to those concerned.
