Nancy Klotz Spencer

Nancy Klotz Spencer passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 29, 2018 with her devoted husband of 58 years by her side, passing from his loving arms and into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nancy was born in Austin, Texas to Dixie and Harry L. Klotz M.D. on May 22, 1936. She was an alumna of Stephen F. Austin High School, Austin, Texas and The University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was a graduate of The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

She married Donald C. Spencer M.D. on January 20, 1960 in Austin. Nancy worked as a Public Health Nurse in Indianapolis and when they returned to Galveston for Don's residency, she taught Public Health Nursing at the UTMB School of Nursing.

In addition to her husband, Nancy leaves behind their son Thomas W. Spencer and his wife Gigi; their sons G. Carson Spencer and Hunter W. Spencer. Another son, Michael C. Spencer and his wife Clea and their daughter Anna Pearl. Their daughter Josephine Brent, her husband Greg D. Brent; their daughter Sarah Elizabeth Brent and their son Spencer W. Brent. Also left behind are her sister Josephine Roche, nephews David L. Roche and wife Becky their sons Campbell Roche and wife Katie and Jackson Roche and wife Caroline, and nephew James T. Roche and his wife Melony.

In addition, her many cousins and legion of friends, whose collective out-pouring of support and love will be forever remembered by her grieving family.

We are especially grateful to her extended church family from Covenant Presbyterian Church, Community Bible Study and her Hospice Austin Team for their love and support during her valiant struggle against cancer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Settlement Home for Children or Covenant Presbyterian Church.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be at Covenant Presbyterian church on Monday July 2, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. A private burial will be held at Austin Memorial Park.
