Nancy Louise Rice Gold was a beautiful Mother of 4, Grandmother of 7, Great Grandmother of 10, and Great Great Grandmother of 1. She was born in Jefferson, Texas on March 16th, 1932 during the Great Depression and gained her Angel wings September 30, 2023. She was orphaned at the age of 7. She was raised in the Corsicana State Home where she would take trips to town in a horse drawn wagon.
During her senior year, she worked at the original Collin Street Bakery. After graduating high school, the orphanage superintendent got her a job in Austin at the Bureau of Vital Statistics. It was then when she met the love of her life, James Morris Gold and married him in April of 1951.
For someone who never drove a car, she went to a lot of places. All the way from Yellowstone, Honolulu, Mexico, Canada, Ireland where she kissed the Blarney Stone, Disney world, Glacier Park, Pike’s Peak, Yosemite National Park, Grand Canyon, to the crown of the Statue of Liberty.
Her favorite movies were; Gone With the Wind and The Wizard of Oz, and oh boy, did she love the Texas Longhorns. She also loved Scrabble, Solitaire, puzzles, and writing and reading most of all. The best puzzle she ever put together was her family and she was the glue that held us all together. She had a heart of Gold and nothing meant more to her than her family, friends, and her little dogs too.
