Nancy Greer Ellison (“Ninnie”), born January 9, 1942, to Donald Merrill Greer and Mary Elizabeth Adams passed away suddenly on July 4, 2018. Nancy was married to the love of her life, Dennis Ellison, for 49 years. Together the two of them enjoyed many adventures, including traveling, square dancing, spending time with their children, grandchildren, extended family and wide-expanse of friends. Nancy’s family was her life. She was an investor of people. Nancy was selfless with her time, wisdom, strength of character, and clarity about what’s important in life is who you are with, not the things you have. She was smart, funny, fun, kind, loving, compassionate and a great source of strength to all.
Nancy held a Bachelor’s degree from Shimer College in Illinois. Nancy worked for the University of Chicago, CCH, and Durio & Co. in Houston. She was a life-long learner and voracious reader. She enjoyed expanding her views and horizons through memberships in AAUW and Master Naturalist-Highland Lakes chapter, sailing the world with Dennis and her brother, Don, and his wife, Jane, gardening, worldly travels, numerous quilting bees, book clubs, needlepoint clubs, investment clubs and many other endeavors. Nancy was an advocate of equal right and opportunity for all.
Nancy was committed to Dennis, her husband of 49 years. She had a great life because of and with him. Dennis survives her, along with her daughters, Colleen Ellison and Deborah Ebner; grandchildren, Nicole Estarellas and Gus Ebner (whom loved their Ninnie more than anything in the world); brother, Don Greer and his wife, Jane; sister, Suzy Miller; sisters-in-law, Martha J. Bozik of Payson, Arizona, Mary Jane Humes of Decatur, Illinois, Dee A. Ellison (sister) of Garland, Tezas; Golden Doodle, Duke; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family members. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Constance Joy Ebner.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
