Sister Ruth Hyder Knox (Bran, Aunt Fuzzy) was born in Bastrop, Texas to the late Samuel Walter Hyder and Ida Lee Alexander on December 18, 1917. Sister Ruth professed a hope in Christ at a very early age and was baptized. She was indeed a child of God, and was faithful, obedient, and always believed in doing what was right in the sight of the Lord. She tried to instill this in her son and grandchildren and all those that she met. She was a very generous person and tried to share with others as the Lord blessed her. She was a faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church for many years where she sang in the choir and was a member of the mission until her illness. But even in her illness, she was very faithful in paying her tithes. She would always check to see if someone from the church had picked them up. She loved her church and was proud to be a member. Everyone loved her dearly, but God loved her more. We take comfort in knowing she is finally home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sister Ruth was a great cook who loved to bake pastries at Christmas and other holidays. She would send the goodies to people that she knew would not have very much for the holidays. She did this for many years until her health began to fail. She married the late Samuel Knox, Jr. whom she loved dearly. Sister Ruth was also preceded in death by: four sisters, Sammie Lee Sutton, Lula Maxine Hyder (BB), Eva Mae Hyder, and Maude Esther Walker; and four brothers, Dell Turner, Horace Hyder, Jim Turner, and Billy Turner. Sister Ruth leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Betty Jean Smith Hyder (Mump); grandchildren, Trina Knox (her wonderful caregiver of many years), Julius R. Knox, Inell Knox, Eric P. Knox, Sr., Shirley Knox, Ben Thompson of New York, N.Y., Robert E. (Regina) Burton, Jr., Angela (Michael) Johnson, and Andria Muturi; great grandchildren, Trina Swann, Terence Knox, Courtney Franklin, Andron Knox, Jamal Knox, Malik Knox, Kandria Knox, Erica Knox, and Eric P. Knox, Jr.; 15 great-great grandchildren; nieces, Maxine Sutton Manor, Flora Sutton Kendle, Gybret Williams, and Stella (Frank) Shaw; a special great niece, Jennifer Jones, and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
