Maxine Warren Roach Maxine was born December 2, 1923 to W.E. and Nona Warren in Eden, Texas. At an early age she moved to Paint Rock, Texas when her father was elected Sheriff of Concho County. After finishing high school she remained in Paint Rock working as a postal clerk rather than going to college, in order to comfort her parents who had two sons in combat units overseas. This was the way Maxine spent her life, helping others. Maxine remained in Paint Rock until marrying Jess Roach on August 17, 1945. Maxine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She inspired her loved ones to emulate her many good traits. She was always active in charitable and church work until incapacitated by a series of strokes. Maxine was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Austin. Her personal life was enriched by her hobbies: reading, love of history, particularly English history, and good, tough crossword puzzles. Upon her husband retiring to Austin, she replaced her love of the Denver Broncos with the Longhorn football team and the Lady Longhorn basketball and volleyball teams. Maxine would never be classified as an extrovert, but on her husband's many moves she made new friends easily. If she met you once, she remembered your name always. Maxine is survived by her loving husband of over 63 years, Jess Roach; daughter Cathy Sherrill and husband James Sherrill; granddaughters Carrie Brill and husband Max Brill and Deanna Sherrill; grandson Jay Sherrill; great-grandson Tyler Brill; sisters Maurine Comerio and husband Tracy Comerio and Sue Ristom; brother Lee Warren and wife Tyree Warren; sisters-in-law Ina Warren and Georgia Warren; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009 at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Dr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
