Max Allison passed away early Saturday, June 7, 2008, at South Austin Hospital. He was born June 17, 1938, in Haskell County, Texas. He was just 10 days shy of his 70th birthday. Max lived most of his life in Austin, attending Travis High School before joining the Air Force at the age of 17. Dad fought a long, hard battle against the devastation of Multiple Sclerosis. He was officially diagnosed with the disease in early 1971, though it's affects were noticeable much earlier. He faced the battle with dignity and humor – mostly with a smile on his face and twinkle in his blue eyes. Dad's wide grin could light up any room and brighten any day. His beloved mother, Inez Felton Grimes, his father, Albert Eugene Allison, and the mother of his children, Linda Allison, preceded Max in death. Max is survived by his son, David Allison and wife Anita, with his grandchildren Brett and Krista; his daughter, Lisa Allison and husband Ben Mills; his sister, LaVonne Penny and husband James; his brothers Weldon Allison and wife Mary, David Allison and wife Virginia, and Dick Allison. With his sister and brothers, many loved nieces and nephews survive him. Dad is also survived by his father-in-law, Samuel Williams, and his brothers-in-law Samuel V. Williams and wife Virginia, and Warner D. Williams and wife Pamela. He was taken care of by some very special people over the years, especially an angel on earth, Georgia Puente. We are forever grateful to Georgia, as well as Dad's other very special caregivers: Bertha Gonzales, Lillie Rios, Steven Hernandez, and Marissa Hernandez. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M.on Wednesday, June 11 at Capital Memorial Park Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas. If you wish to make a charitable donation in Max's honor, please make donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Lone Star Chapter (512) 495-9901.
