Matthew James Selby had a varied educational and professional career. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in history in his hometown of Denver, Colorado, he earned his commission as an Office in the United States Army. During his 10 years as a Medical Service Corps Officer, he was relocated from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado to the Korean Peninsula, then to the Big Texas country of San Antonio, and finally to the swamp land that is Louisiana. After transitioning out of the Army, Matt moved to Austin, Texas where he still resides today, and began pursuing a career in healthcare consulting, another career that required strict attention to detail, an aspect that speaks to Matt. He would stick to consulting for a few years before deciding to move away from a prototypical career ladder to a more personal and expressive profession in photography. As someone who thrived in having the “5-year plan,” Matt has found an appreciation for taking life one frame at a time.
