Mathew David Allen tragically died July 28, 2015 and is now with the Lord. Mathew was born January 19, 1988 to Cathi M. Allen and Troy Allen Carver, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mathew (or as his friends called him, Mat) was a very active, highly talented individual. There was never anything that Mathew did that was not with great enthusiasm and passion. He loved soccer and played for many years at a highly competitive level. He was a phenomenal artist and was intending to attend a university for gaming animation and graphic design. He has artwork posted at the 9-11 museum. In high school, he won the Colorado outdoor art contest with his designed animal sun dial, which was displayed at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for a year. Mathew loved music, playing the saxophone, and guitar (base, electric and acoustic). He loved concerts and listened to classic rock or alternative all the time. Mathew was a lover of literature of all kinds and a wide range of movies and sci-fi.
Mathew was one of the fiercest friends I have ever had the privilege to know. If any friend ever needed anything, Mat was there, if not physically, in spirit for support. He loved them all and to the end. Many of them shared Mathew’s passion for gaming. His goal was to follow that passion for his entire life, making a career of it. He always wanted to work at what he loved and made the choice to stick to that no matter what. He grew to love bartending and made an art of it.
Mathew loved his dogs Dexter and Princess Leia. He often said that Dex was his all. Mathew was a wonderful pet parent.
Mathew is and always will be a cherished son, grandson, nephew and cousin. His Nana, Judy Hill, welcomed him with open arms at Heaven’s gate. Mathew will be loved, honored and remembered forever by his mother, Cathi M. Allen, grandparents, Glenn and Beth Allen, aunts and uncles, Dawn and Doug Plummer, John and Shauna Allen, Rob Purper and Chris Pontillo, and MaryBeth Allen. He has numerous cousins that will also love him always. Those include the following: Matthew and Whitney Austin (Piper and Bentley), Josh and Stephanie Allen, Bryce Plummer, Shelby Plummer, Dustin, Dilann, Alazae, Candace and Kayla Allen, and T’ea, Katrina and Lydia Plummer. Mathew’s former wife, Cherie Salango survives his death. Mathew’s father, Troy Allen Carver (and his family) survives his death. There are also numerous great aunts and uncles, second cousins, extended family and friends that will never forget him.
There will be graveside service at 1 PM on Saturday August 8, 2015, at Peak Cemetery in Royal, Arkansas. He will be laid to rest next to his Nana forever, as it should be. A reception will be held at Oaklawn United Methodist Church, following the service.
There will be a celebration of Mathew’s life in Austin, Texas on August 15th for his friends and loved ones there. It will be located at Cathi and Mathew’s home at 4PM. All his friends and loved ones are welcome to attend.
Finally there will be a celebration of Mathew’s life in Colorado Springs, Colorado in the upcoming months for his friends and family there to celebrate him. Details will follow.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations be made in Mathew’s name to Project Semicolon or your local pet shelter or rescue. Many of his family members will be doing the same and getting semicolon tattoos in his honor.
As Mathew’s mother, it was the greatest honor and joy to bare, raise, love and guide Mathew. There will never be anything that will mean more to me that the gift that God gave to me thru my son. I will do everything I can to always honor, love, cherish and uplift your life and legacy.
I love you son and always will,
Mom.
