Mary Ethel was born January 29, 1938 in Austin to Emmett and Thelma Miller. Mary Ethel graduated from Austin High in 1956, then briefly attended the University of Texas. Her friend, Betty, introduced Mary Ethel to her brother, Carl Moore. They married on September 6, 1957 and were together until Carl’s passing in February of last year.
Mary Ethel was an amazing grandmother who instilled in her grandchildren an appreciation of life, nature, art and humor. Known for a quick smile, extraordinary generosity, and a person who never met someone who was not a friend. Mary Ethel raised two sons, was the den mother, and proud advocate for her sons her entire life. She was a long-time member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church where she led many bible study classes and had a significant impact on many lives.
She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Moore: her parents mentioned above; sister-in-law Betty Bouchard and husband Andre. She is survived by her brother, George Miller and wife Patty; her two sons, Scott Moore and wife Melody, and Mike Moore and wife Kathleen; five grandchildren, Meredith Pate and husband Oscar, and Nick Moore and wife Sara, Lynssey, Caleb and Laurel English; four great-grandchildren, Evan, Nora, and Bennett Pate; and Nicholas English.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 30th at 11:00 am at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 7815 West Hwy 290, Austin, Texas. Graveside service will be at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive at 1:30 p.m.
Flowers may be sent to the funeral home. Donations may be made to Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
