Mary Maud Brown Greenwood was born December 12, 1919 in Howard, Kansas to Alonzo E. Brown and Edith M. Brown. She died on December 14, 2014 in Austin, Texas at age 95. She married Robert E. Greenwood in 1951 in Washington, D. C. They had one child, daughter Barbara Greenwood.
Maudi lived in Kansas and Missouri. She graduated high school and attended the Chillicothe Business College. She worked for her high school and then accepted a Civil Service appointment to Washington, D. C. in 1941. She worked for the U. S. Army Quartermaster General in administrative and editing positions. She later worked for a House of Representative member until coming to Texas in 1952 with her husband who was a math professor at the University of Texas.
In Austin, Maudi and her husband were long-time members of University United Methodist Church. She was involved in many civic and religious groups: Church Women United, United Methodist Women, League of Women Voters, Retired Faculty Staff Association of the University of Texas, Book Friends, and others. Interests include Little Theater in Washington, D. C. and recently artwork. She enjoyed PBS programming and classic movies.
In her later years, she was a resident of Westminster Manor and most recently was living in the Health Care Center-Assisted Living section. Many thanks to the Westminster staff for their care and concern during these last years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Frances, and her husband. Survivors include her daughter Barbara Greenwood of Conroe, Texas and her niece Lynn Kiernan of Bethesda, Maryland.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd. in Austin.
