Mary Patricia Burke nee Drury

Mary Patricia "Pat" Burke, nee Drury, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, was called home by God on August 30, 2009. She leaves behind her loving husband of 57 years, Walter H. Burke, Lt. Col. (Ret.); her children: Bob Burke (Houston); Bill Burke and wife Linda (North Richland Hills); and, Mary Beth Noble and husband Euclid (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania); her grandchildren: Katherine, Richard, Austin and Hunter Noble; half-brothers: Leo and Caitriona O'Drudy; and Arthur and Mary Drury; cousins: Alden and Carol Cunningham; Kathy Moore; Earl and Laurel Eckert; and, Alvin and Sue Eckert. Pat was the perfect companion to her Air Force husband. While the family was stationed in Alaska, in addition to raising two small sons, Pat was well known, and appreciated, for her support and care of younger, less experienced Air Force wives. When Walt, Pat, and their three children relocated to France, Pat was elected President of the International Officers' Wives Club in Central Europe, Allied Forces, NATO. She always had a kind word for everyone and never hesitated to lend a hand or a shoulder wherever it was needed. Pat loved crossword puzzles, reading, playing bridge, doting on the grandchildren, and spoiling the poodles, Lafitte and Jacques. Visitation is Thursday, September 3rd from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin. Mass will be at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 4311 Small Dr., Austin, on Friday September 4th at 2 p.m. Friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
