With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Maria S. Ledesma on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. She was married to our late father, Nick Gandora Ledesma. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 2, 1927 to the late Ester Reyes Serda and Agapito Serda. Maria was a long-standing member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
She is survived by her son Nick Ledesma Jr., her daughters Virginia Ledesma Romo, Clara Ledesma Torres, Rose Ledesma Figueroa and husband Mike, and various grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband Nick Ledesma Sr., her daughter Linda Botello, both her parents Ester and Agapito Serda, her two sisters Pauline Andrada and Angelita Flores, her grandchild Valerie Figueroa, daughter in-law Juanita Ledesma and son in-law Cruz Romo Jr.
She loved to do many things like cooking, baking, shopping, gardening, and her weekly outings to the local Senior Citizen’s Activity Center. There she enjoyed learning arts and crafts, taking field trips to local and out of town restaurants, and socializing with great friends. Even up to the last couple of weeks before she gained her Angel’s wings she was always ready to be on the go.
She lived 1000 years in the 94 calendar years we had with her because she lived her life to the fullest as a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother, and as a diligent worker. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children the importance of strong values that have served them well. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to all the lives she touched. Her heart was so fun loving. She loved to sing and dance her feet off with our daddy Nick. They both enjoyed family back yard bbqs, weddings, formal ballroom dances or just spending time with family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She loved to party and dance the night away with our father and friends. We know she is now singing and dancing with the stars in our father's arms as it should be.
She had a great sense of humor with an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up the room. She will be dearly missed by many.
Special thanks to the nurses, aides, chaplains, and social workers at Cella Bella Hospice who took great care of our mother during her fight with dementia. Taking care of our mother at home was a great honor and we wouldn’t have done it any other way. We realized that without your care and support these past couple of years that we couldn’t have done it without y’all.
