Lucie was born on September 15, 1956, to Eusebio Labra Torres and Bartola Cruz – Torres in Tampacán, San Luis Potosí Mexico. Hailing from a migrant farm working family, Lucie graduated from Raymondville High School in 1976 and went on to study and earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications at St. Edward’s University.
While studying to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication, she began her career working for St. Edward’s University in the Office of University Advancement where she served for 39 years. Revered as a spiritual guide to many lives, Lucie had a major impact to her colleagues and students throughout her tenure there that she was recently recognized with ‘The Luciana “Lucie” T. Perez ’92 CAMP Endowed Scholarship at St. Edward’s University.
In 1975, Lucie met Gabriel Perez in Raymondville, Texas and their story together began. Lucie and Gabriel went on to have one child, Kriselda Torres–Perez.
Lucie is preceded in death by daughter - Kriselda Gabriela Torres–Perez, father - Eusebio L. Torres, father-in-law Bernadino G. Perez.
She is survived by Gabriel Baudelio Perez (husband), Bartola Cruz–Torres (mother), Armando (Norma) Torres (brother), Eleanor (Emilio) Torres–Camarillo (sister), Johnathan (Alexus) Camarillo (nephew), Joseph G. Camarillo (nephew), Eliani Luzette Camarillo (niece), Naaman C. Torres (nephew), Carina A. Torres (niece), mother-in-law Viola Emma Perez, sister-in-law Cecilia (Chris) Perez–Galvan, brother-in-law Damian Perez, Hector (Jessica) Hernandez (nephew), Marco Hernandez (nephew), Lynette (Cris) Hernandez–Ramirez (niece), Vanessa (Chris) Hernandez–Salazar (niece), and five grand nephews and two grand nieces.
Pallbearers – Armando Torres, Damian Perez, Johnathan Camarillo, Joseph Camarillo, Hector Hernandez, Marco Hernandez.
Viewing will be held at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home located at 2620 S. Congress, Austin, TX on Friday, December 9th from 4–8pm with a Rosary to be held at 7:00PM. Mass will be on December 10th at St. Edward’s University Chapel starting at 10AM. Lucie’s final resting place will be in Raymondville, Texas with final resting services being provided by Good Shephard Funeral Home in Raymondville, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Luciana “Lucie” T. Perez ’92 CAMP Endowed Scholarship at St. Edward’s University.
