Mrs. Louise W. Armstrong Louise Armstrong, age 90, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on October 8, 2003. She was born on December 25, 1912 in Birmingham, Alabama to Mary and William Oscar Wilkerson. She moved to Austin in 1930 and attended the University of Texas. In 1934 she married Victor Yerby Armstrong who preceded her in death in 1944. Louise retired from the Internal Revenue Service in December 1970 with thirty years of service. At her retirement, she was presented the Galatin Award for outstanding service to the Federal Government. For a number of years, she was active in the Baptist Church, Parent Teacher Association and in Cub and Boy Scouts. Louise was active in various organizations having served as President of the National Federation of Federal Employees, was a Charter member and Past President of the National Association of the Internal Revenue Employees of Austin and a Charter member of the First AARP Association in Austin. Louise was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Past Worthy Matron and Life member of Travis Chapter No. 472 in Austin and served on many appointed committees of the Grand Chapter of Texas. She was elected and served five years on the Board of Grand Trustees, two years as the Grand Treasurer and six years as the Grand Secretary. She is survived by her son, Victor Yerby Armstrong, Jr., and his wife, Patricia Donovan of Austin; brother, Bill Wilkerson and his wife Martha of Marietta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Victor (Trey) Armstrong and his wife Lori of Spanaway, Washington, Kim Sherrard and her husband Jeff of Lakewood, Colorado, Sharon White of McMahan, Texas; and four great grandchildren, Lloyd and Jacquelyn White and Zachary and Bailey Sherrard, five nephews and three nieces. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 12th at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel with the Reverend Don R. Long officiating. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
