Lisa Dawn Mills passed away peacefully on April 14, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. She was 59 years old. Lisa was born in Austin, Texas, to Lee S. Mills, Jr. and Joan Mills on July 24, 1961. She grew up in Austin where she lived for most of her life. Lisa graduated from A.N. McCallum High School in 1980. She had a joy for life and a passion for singing. Her first experience with a choir was at McCallum. She later joined the church choir at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and loved singing with her church family.
Lisa worked for the AAFES PX at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas, for over 25 years and was loved by those whom she served. She enjoyed serving our military members and loved talking to them every day.
Lisa loved to meet new people. She was friendly to everyone and never met a stranger. She loved babies and little children and would drop everything to say hello. She was an avid reader and would devour as many books as she could. A lover of classical music, her absolute favorite piece was Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, 4th Movement, “Ode to Joy.”
Lisa was a gentle soul, gifted in many ways and challenged in others. She always looked on the brightest side of life. She was a virtual library of knowledge and trivia. She will be truly missed by family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lee S. Mills, Jr. Lisa is survived by her mother, Joan Mills; her brother, Mark Mills; her sister, Michelle Barnes; and her niece, Sarah Barnes.
There will be a Rosary and Viewing for Lisa at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 6:00 pm. Her funeral Mass will be at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11:00 am. If you would like to send flowers, please have them delivered to Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
