Linda Kay Mueller was promoted to heaven on October 7, 2022. She was born in Lubbock County to Anton Mueller and Emma Gerner Mueller. To the consistent surprise of her Austin friends, she spent her childhood summers working on the farm, chopping cotton, carrying irrigation pipes, and canning food of all kinds. She was also an accomplished pianist and regularly played the piano at her church.
One of her favorite quotes was from Henry David Thoreau - “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you have imagined.” She believed we spread our wings and soar, and we land where we are supposed to be. Linda spread her wings and - by the grace of God – did land just where she was supposed to be: Austin, the University of Texas, and the State Capitol – accomplishing goals and achievements which she never dreamed possible. She may have arrived at the capitol from West Texas very naïve, but quickly learned the meaning of the word “politics.” She worked for some of the most prominent House and Senate Members spending most of her career as Chief-of-Staff to former Senator Ken Armbrister. Her first employer Representative DeWitt Hale said, “She took to the Capitol like a duck to water.” One of her colleagues said, “If you want something done, you can pray for it or you can ask Linda.”
Linda famously loved her animals, especially her beloved Shih Tzu, Chardonnay, and her many cats including Hook ‘Em One and Two, Cuddles and Scampi. She was known to throw them elaborate birthday parties, including a birthday party for Chardonnay at the Austin Club and annual St. Patrick’s Day parties honoring the birthdays of her cats.
She was a member of the Church of the Good Shephard, continuing to be involved online when her health required her to stay home. Linda loved a good party! Her friends are welcome to celebrate her life at a party on Friday, November 18, 2022. To RSVP, text 512-415-1912 to receive location and time.

As Linda’s favorite scripture states, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” -Matthew 25:23
