Kylie Christine Murphy was tragically taken from this earth on her way home from Texas Tech University on Sept. 5, 2014. She was going home to spend time with family and friends to celebrate her brother's birthday.
Kylie was born October 18, 1993 in Round Rock, Texas. She attended Brushy Creek Elementary, Cedar Valley Middle School, and graduated from McNeil High School in 2012.
Kylie was born to dance and began taking dance lessons at an early age. She continued dancing all the way through high school. Kylie was a member of the McNeil Majestic drill team for three years and served as the Social Captain for the last two.
Kylie's favorite time of year was the fall because she was an avid football fan and never missed a single game. She knew more about football than most men that were twice her age. During McNeil's football games, she would teach her drill teammates all the rules and explain what was going on during each and every play. She was the Friday Night Lights football guru and cherished cheering on her brother, Ryan. Her favorite football teams were the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys. Kylie also loved listening to music and supporting up-and-coming bands. She attended many ACL concerts and was very excited to attend this year's festival and introduce some new friends to Austin.
Kylie was an extremely kind-hearted soul with an incredible ability to nurture others. Kylie never judged a book by its cover. She always saw the good in people, and never met a stranger. She was exceptionally compassionate to all who crossed her path and would do anything to help others in need. She was an avid animal lover, and caring for them came natural. In fact, she was especially good at spoiling her family dogs and missed them dearly while she was away at college. She couldn't wait to adopt her very own puppy one day.
Kylie had a gorgeous smile that always lit up any room. From the time she was a baby, she always had a smile on her face. Kylie was nicknamed "Smiley Kylie" by her late grandfather, Cole Murphy, and that nickname was truly fitting.
Kylie was a Junior Business Major with a pre-law minor. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She touched her new sisters' lives, and she expanded the circle of people that loved her caring spirit, and infectious laughter. As a beautiful spirit, she was driven to succeed. She had just made the Dean's list and had an ultimate goal of attending law school. Kylie was her daddy's angel and her momma's best friend.
Ryan and Kylie were part of the "Red Raider Nation" and the "McNeil Maverick Family". Although their lives were cut way too short, they touched many lives and will be desperately missed by all that knew them - none more than their parents, Pat and Michelle, and their best friend and beloved big sister Natassia (Tasha). Kylie and Ryan were truly amazing people and the world is a much lesser place without them.
Words cannot express our heartfelt thanks to the many people that have reached out to our family during this time of need. We are extremely grateful for our incredible family and friends that have literally carried us through our darkest hours and lifted our hearts with their tireless work and companionship to support our broken hearts.
Our "Irish Twins" were preceded in death by their grandfathers, Bob Lampert and Cole Murphy as well as their grandmother Hilda Murphy. Kylie and Ryan are survived by their parents, Patrick and Michelle Murphy, and sister Natassia West. They are also survived by grandmothers Barbara Lampert and Lois Murphy, along with 13 aunts and uncles and 15 cousins.
Services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (9500 Neenah Ave, Austin 78717) at 10:30am. Reception immediately following at the Brushy Creek Community Center, 16318 Great Oaks Drive, Round Rock 78681.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers any donations be made to the benefit of Kylie and Ryan at http://www.gofundme.com/e7dpj4
