Keivon Akil Kitwana Liburd

Keivon Liburd, 39, of Austin, Texas, was born on May 17, 1982 in Camden, New Jersey to Lans and Jackie Liburd. He passed away suddenly on November 9, 2021 in Austin, TX. With his passing, he leaves behind loved ones and is reunited to others he loved dearly. A husband to Katie, father to Kei and Keandre. Loving son to Lans (1954 - 2017) and Jackie. Brother to Andrae (1984 - 1999), Keziah and Deirdre. Grandson to Vida Cornelius.

Keivon was a committed husband and father. His love for his immediate and extended family was immeasurable. He was their greatest supporter and beamed with pride at the very mention of them.

Everyone who met Keivon experienced his love and kindness. He was a strong leader, a generous & selfless friend whose heart knew no bounds and whose smile was one of the brightest, most contagious smiles God ever created with a laughter that filled the room. He was gregarious and a gatherer of people.

To meet Keivon once was to have a friend. To meet him twice was to have a best friend. Anything more than that, he became family. Keivon Liburd has been a man who instantly made you want to be the best version of yourself. We can all agree, Keivon was someone you could always count on to challenge you to think differently, think again. You might even call him a fire-starter, a G.O.A.T, Greatest of All Times encouraging others to not only care about life’s big challenges but to actively be the change our world needs. His personal motto: Do Love, Be Love, Change the World reflected that.

Keivon was a man of service, serving God, his family, his local church and international community selflessly, no matter the age, color, or background. He wasn’t afraid to speak of his convictions, confront his imperfections and grow towards holiness, challenging all of us to also grow in godliness.

As founder of the Black Spec-fic Authors and co-founder of the Afronauts Podcast, Keivon created spaces for everyone to have a voice and inspired others to use their platforms to share their passions. Keivon also served on the board of Red Roots, a nonprofit organization, was a regular contributor on Writer Unboxed, and served as a mentor with My Brother's Keeper.

Keivon’s legacy didn’t come to an end with his death, as his unmatched compassion will continue to impact all of us for years and generations to come. He will undeniably be missed everyday of our lives and live forever in our hearts until we meet again.
