Katherine Jo Tyrrell Evans - Celebrated the end of her life surrounded by loving members of her family and by Father Parker Jamison of St. Lukes on the Lake Episcopal Church in Austin, Texas, Tuesday, June 28, 2005. Kathy was married to Dr. William M. Evans and mother to loving daughter, Katie (Katherine Elizabeth), and sons, Patrick, and Thomas. The Evanses have been important members of the Austin community and members of St. Lukes on the Lake Episcopal Church for ten years. Kathy was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Ruth Evans Tyrrell and William Patrick Tyrrell. She graduated from Catholic High School; she received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing at Fort Sanders School of Nursing and received her Master of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling from Vanderbilt University located at Oxford, England. She received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Distinguished Service in1972. She was most recently a charge nurse at St. David's Hospital and Shoal Creek Hospital in Austin. Kathy loved to travel. She lived in Turkey and in England for ten years while in the service for her country. Kathy is survived by her husband, Bill, without whom her survival would have been extremely shortened. She is also survived by her devoted and loving daughter, Katie, and sons, Patrick and Thomas. Kathy's loving parents are Ruth E. and William P. Tyrrell of Knoxville, TN, and siblings, Patrick Thomas (and daughter Christine); William Carroll; Timothy Joseph, of Scottsville, AZ (and sons Tanner and Luke); Sallie (and husband Lawrence Crouch); Julia Ann (and husband Paul A. Saunders and daughters Audrey and Natalie) of Stroudsburg, PA; Daniel C. (and wife Patti and children Lauren K. and Conner T.); and sister Rose Mary(Roz), (and husband, Joseph) of Powder Springs, GA. Kathy is also survived by her life-long best friend, Berniece DePue of Knoxville, as well as many other dear friends in Knoxville and in Austin. In Knoxville, Kathy's family will receive friends at Highland-Memorial Mortuary, 5315 Kingston Pike, from 6 p.m. to 8p.m. on Friday July 1, 2005. A prayer service by Father Xavier Mankel will follow. Entombment will take place on Saturday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m. at Highland-Memorial Mortuary. In Austin, memorial services for Kathy will be held at St. Luke's on the Lake Episcopal Church on Tuesday July 5, at 11:00 a.m. The service will be followed by a reception at the home of the Evanses located at 10214 Scull Creek Drive, Riverplace, Austin.
