It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved daughter, Katherine Emma Castleberry, known to most as Katie. Katie passed away in Austin, TX on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the young age of 28. Katie was born in Austin, TX on March 30, 1994 to Laura and Michael Castleberry. She was preceded in death by her sister, Emily Alyssa Castleberry, and her grandparents, Richard and Martha Ann Castleberry, and Michael Hoffman. Besides her parents, Katie’s memory will be cherished by her beloved daughter, Hayley Bleu Jacobs and her grandmother Sandra Hoffman, as well as her aunts, uncles and cousins.
Katie grew up an enthusiastic, fun-loving and spirited child, always energetic and full of laughter. She was friendly and welcoming and was the first one to introduce herself to someone new and invite them to join the group. She was incredibly creative and started painting, drawing and cartooning at a young age. She loved animals and spent hours playing with and caring for her many cats and dogs. Katie was the most loyal friend you could ever have. She had the best intentions for the people she loved, could always see the best in others, and never turned her back on a friend.
She gravitated to those who were in need of support. When she was a teenager she loved going on mission trips because it gave her a chance to help people. Katie helped in her own unique way to make a difference in people’s lives. On one trip to repair homes torn apart by a hurricane, Katie took it upon herself to go inside the houses and visit with the people who lived there. It was her natural instinct to focus on people and show compassion. She sat with them, listened to their stories, and showed care, concern and understanding.
In 2018 Katie was blessed to become a mother with the birth of her daughter, Hayley Bleu, whom she loved dearly. Being Hayley’s mom was her proudest achievement and greatest joy.
Katie was a truly exceptional human being. She was absolutely adored by her parents and was the light of their lives. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. Katie’s unique, positive and deeply caring spirit will continue to live on in all of those she touched and impacted during her much too short life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that people make donations, if they wish, to Mo Ranch in Hunt, TX, where some of Katie’s favorite childhood memories were made and where she found her true peace and center. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.wcfishnorth.com.
A Memorial Service for friends and family to honor Katie, will be held on Sunday, September 25th at 3:30PM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.
