Karl is survived by his wife, Frances; one son Dwayne Vincent and wife Joyce, and twin daughters Dawn Powers and husband Jack, and Dian Cannon; six grandchildren, Brandon Vincent, twin grandsons, Jerrid Vincent and wife Crystal, and Jeremy Vincent, Justin Powers, Shyatesa Cannon Rohrer and husband Kent, and Kassie Powers; three great-granddaughters, Mallory Vincent, Paisley Vincent and Aubrey Vincent; two step grandchildren, Jordan and Ryan Pinson; two nephews, Steve and Doug Shelton.
He was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and attended the University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin, Texas. He served in the Navy during World War II as an aviator radio man, third class.
Karl was an avid educator who believed in quality education for all students. He graduated from the University of Texas in the spring of 1948 and began his career in education as a coach and teacher in Lovington, New Mexico. He served as high school principals at Odem High School in Odem, TX and Flour Bluff High School in Flour Bluff, TX. He then went to Taft, TX as high school principal and assistant superintendent. He served as superintendent at Wallis ISD in Wallis, TX and Calallen ISD in Corpus Christi, TX. The last year of his career were spent at the Education Service Center in Corpus Christi, TX and Director of Instructional Services. His greatest pleasure was working with students on an individual basis and encouraging them to always do their best.
The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Austin, Texas. Interment immediately to follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park in Austin, Texas.
