Our beloved, Julia Ramirez Garza, age 92, was called to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Augustine Garza; her parents, Atanacio and Herlinda Ramirez; and her siblings, Nicolasa Gonzales, Martha Alvarado, Ignacia "Nancy" Castellon, Marcella "Margie" Moreno, Richard Ramirez, and Frank Ramirez.
Julia is survived by her loving children, son Jose Alfredo Garza and wife Carmen, daughters Angie Garza-Wilkison and husband Garry, Anita Garza Martinez and husband John, Sarah Garza Clawson and husband Michael, and Precilla Garza Hauer and husband Karl; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; her brothers, Sisto Ramirez and T.C. Ramirez, and many other loving family members and friends.
Julia was born in Lockhart Texas on January 7, 1931. After living on a farm in Lockhart, the Ramirez family moved to Austin Texas. Julia relished living in Austin on a street where all her aunts, uncles, and cousins lived. She was a city girl at heart.
In September of 1955 Julia married Augustine Garza. They started a family and a few years later moved to Kingsville, Texas. She and Augustine enjoyed taking the family to the beach. Julia adored gardening and planting her beloved roses. After living through a few hurricanes, the family decided to move back to Austin.
Julia was delighted to be back in Austin with her extended family. There she was able to watch her own family grow, graduate from school, marry, and start their own families. This made her very happy because now Julia could babysit and watch the grandchildren grow. She treasured attending the grand kid’s events, and even traveled in state and out of state for those events. Her favorite time was when the whole family would come together for holidays, birthdays, and other special events. The arrival of her great-great granddaughter was a special treat.
Later in life, Julia and Augustine continued their adventures together by travelling, gardening, and spending time with family.
Julia was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.
