Judy Ann Caffall Estes, 78, passed away peacefully due to Alzheimer’s Disease on June 20, 2023. Judy was born to Lee Ella Goode Caffall and T.A. “Smokey” Caffall on November 30, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley in Rio Hondo, Texas where in high school she was a member of the cheerleading squad and basketball team. She then went on to Southwest Texas State University, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education.
Judy was married in 1966 to Bill Estes with whom she had attended all twelve years of primary and secondary school. They were to celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary on August 27. Judy and Bill started dating in high school and married in their senior year of college. They moved to Houston for Bill to attend dental school where she helped support his education through teaching elementary school and as a Child Welfare worker. Judy and Bill subsequently moved to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where Bill was serving in the USAF. They returned to Austin in 1973 for Bill to open his dental practice. During this time Judy was very busy raising two children and working in Bill’s dental offices. She was also active at Riverbend Church and Balcones Country Club with volunteering, bridge, tennis, and social activities. She enjoyed water skiing and traveling with Bill including snow skiing, national and international destinations.
Judy is survived by her husband, Bill, son Lance, his wife Jenny, their daughters Delaney and Allison, daughter Christi, her husband Steve, and their sons Patrick and Kieran. She is predeceased by her parents, two sisters, and a brother.
We will all miss her infectious laugh and sense of humor. Most of all we will miss her caring and devotion to family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, June 23, 2023 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Dr., Austin, Texas 78731. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. A family burial will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Memorial Park.
