Jose R. "Pepe" Perez

Jose R. “Pepe” Perez, 86, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, October 10, 2014 after a life changing illness. Jose was born on November 29, 1927 to Joseph Roy Perez and Virginia Macias Perez and comes from a family of 8. Jose retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1973 and from the City of Austin. He was very active with the Catholic War Veterans before his illness serving as a liaison. Jose also participated with the Veterans Administration as a volunteer.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Annie and sisters, Helen, Stella, and Enadina. Jose will be sadly missed by his children, Cora, Melba and partner Debbie, Roy, and Virginia and husband Edward Mindieta; grandchildren, Tricia, Eddie and wife Veronica, Nikki and husband Luis, Heather and husband Michael, and Melinda; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rudy and Robert; sister, Luci; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to Hospice Compassus, especially Lauren Levy RN and his caregiver Cam for making his last days happy and peaceful.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 14, 2014 with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Services will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 26160 Ranch Road 12, Dripping Springs, with Father Charlie Garza, Celebrant followed by Military Honors rendered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
