John Trenholm, 71, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, September 9, 2018, after an honorable battle with cancer. Son of Derrill and Louise Trenholm, his father was a career Air Force officer, so John moved with the family every three years, his favorites were Puerto Rico and Vandenberg. John graduated from Bellevue High School in Nebraska where he played football, baseball and was a sprint champion on the track team. He joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Austin where he met the love of his life, Linda. In 1975, he graduated from UT with a business degree, and worked more than 30 years as a financial advisor, retiring in 2017 as a Partner at Per Stirling Capital Management.
John was an avid supporter of UT sports, holding season tickets for UT football and basketball. He attended all Texas-OU games from 1971 to 2016 and three Rose Bowl appearances. He loved to travel at any opportunity, working in his vegetable garden, spending time with his family, and hosting birthday and holiday celebrations. As a member of Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ, he delighted in serving in the Kitchen Fellowship. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Linda King Trenholm, daughter Jennifer Trenholm Fowler, and son Nathan Trenholm. He is also survived by his three precious grandchildren, Jacelyn, Jolee and John Fowler; his sister Ellen LaGrange of Plano, and his brother David Trenholm of Houston.
Visitation is from 6-8 PM on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home and the funeral service is on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ (so that everyone will be able to watch UT beat USC). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BOCC Fellowship or a charity of your choice.
