John T "JT" Gonzales, 48, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on September 30, 2023, in Austin, Texas. He was born on September 14, 1975, in Weslaco, Texas. Many people loved John and were honored to be a part of his life. Specifically, John is survived by his parents Francisca and Teodoro Gonzales, his three children, Jo Gonzales, Josiah Gonzales, and Anabella Gonzales, his sister Jessica Quintanilla, brother-in-law Elvis Quintanilla, three nieces Hailey, Emma and Addison and great nephew, Christian, as well as, his devoted and loving girlfriend, Holly DeKan.
From any early age, it was clear John was going far in life. He received his education at Richard King High School in Corpus Christi and began his undergraduate studies at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. His longhorn roots brought him back to Texas to complete his bachelor’s degree in international law from the University of Texas at Austin. He remained a long-time and unwavering Texas Longhorn fan until the very end.
In memory of John, the family kindly requests donations to the Ronald McDonald House of Central Texas in his honor. For such an incredibly compassionate and generous soul, the Ronald McDonald House was very special to John, in fact, he would regularly take his children over the holidays to make meals for families living through the trauma of caring for their critically ill children. Please make contribution in his name at https://rmhc-ctx.org/ which can be memorialized in the comments section.
We will forever hold John "JT" Gonzales in our hearts, remembering his kindness, warmth, and love he shared with those around him. He was generous to fault and full of so much depth and compassion – and enjoyed life in all respects! Most importantly, John left this Earth better than when he entered it. We should all continue in John’s enormous shadow and work towards emulating such incredible values towards others. We pray his soul will find eternal peace – as he will be missed beyond measure by many.
A visitation for John will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
