Johnny was born in Runge, Texas, on September 6, 1949, to Valeria M. and Gerard J. Ebeier. He was the fourth of eight children. Most of his younger years were spent in San Antonio where he attended Winston Churchill High School. After graduating, he attended the University of Texas at Austin. Johnny spent many years working in the banking industry and retired from Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages (AT&T) after almost 30 years.
Johnny always loved surrounding himself with loved ones and friends, entertaining and cooking up something special for the occasion. He was his own “BBQ Pit Boss” and “Master of the Kitchen” when it came to his culinary skills. Gifted with growing plants, specifically “Tropical Plants,” that he passed on to his sons. Johnny also enjoyed scuba diving, in his younger years, and traveling at every opportunity throughout his life. He loved animals of all kinds, particularly his Siberian Husky, Keylo and his neighbor’s German Shepherd, Thor. Johnny had a passion for vintage cars and sadly, before his passing, he was so excited to hopefully be the owner of a vintage Corvette, which was his lifetime dream.
Johnny is predeceased by his parents, Valeria M. and Gerard J. Ebeier, and sister, Jan Ebeier Gallo. He is survived by his wife, Gayla Hall and children: Chris Ebeier (wife Danielle), Jeff Ebeier (wife Molly) and grandchildren (Megan Owen, Abby Ebeier, Jack Ebeier, Andi Ebeier, and Ryan Ebeier) Surviving siblings: Gerard J. “Sandy” Ebeier, Jr.; Pat Koch (husband David); Carol Myers (husband Fred); Dr. Mary Kay Osborn (husband Joe); Valarie Bennett (husband Paul); and Robert Ebeier (wife Lynne).
