Jewel Hill Baker, age 90, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at North Austin Medical Center. She was born in Dillard, Oklahoma on May 13, 1924. She graduated from Pampa High School and from Scott and White School of Nursing in Temple, Texas.
Jewel loved to participate in bible study with her friends at Anderson Mill Baptist Church where she was a member. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Clyde Baker; her father Arch Lee Hill and mother, Nancy Rose Partridge Hill; three brothers and two sisters; grandson Raymond Horne; and great-grandson Caleb David Horne.
Jewel is survived by her son, Burl B. Baker and his wife Karen of Austin; her daughter, Becky Baker Horne and her husband Joe Horne of Grapevine. She is also survived by her grandsons Brannon B. Baker of San Antonio, and David Horne of Grapevine; sister- in- law Franciene Johnson of Haskell, and numerous nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills located at 9700 Anderson Mill Road, 78750. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills; a graveside service will take place after the service at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and workers at Park Bend Health Center, Austin, for the loving care they gave Jewel during the last two years of her life.
