Jeff was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 16, 1964 to Vincent and Patricia Blake. He graduated from Petrolia High School in 1982. Jeff received a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Midwestern State University. A self-made entrepreneur, Jeff owned and managed many businesses, most recently focusing on real estate investments.
His hobbies included home remodeling, concrete architectural design and mountain biking. Jeff was an avid fan of UT Longhorn sports and would go to great lengths to travel and see the team compete. He was a longtime football season ticket holder and had the opportunity to see the team compete for the championship in California.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Melinda Blake, his daughters Meagan, Hailey and Kelsey Blake; parents, Vincent and Patricia Blake of Wichita Falls, TX; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Gloria Anciso of Harlingen, TX; brother, Kelly and wife Kelly Jo, brother, Ken and wife Deb, brothers, Kerry and Aaron Blake and sister, Mari Dombkowski. He is also survived by numerous extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Keith Dombkowski.
The Blake family would love to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brian Shimkus and the Austin Cancer Centers and to the Seton Northwest hospital staff.
A Vigil Service led by Jeff’s father, Deacon Vincent Blake, will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home on Anderson Mill Road, Austin.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2010 at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish, 10205 RR 620 N in Austin with Reverend James Ekeocha as Celebrant and Deacon Vincent Blake assisting. A reception will immediately follow Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made, in honor of Jeff, to the Una Vita Foundation, which assists low-income people diagnosed with terminal and/or chronic illnesses. Donations to this organization can be made payable to “Una Vita Foundation” at 8304 Wexford Drive, Austin, TX 78759.
