Jean Myatt Peterson

Jean comes from a family who loved music. Her parents started her on violin lessons at a very early age, and she became an accomplished musician by the time she entered high school. She was at Texas Women's College, majoring in music when WWII began. As one of the lead violinists in the symphony orchestra, she took part in providing entertainment at various military installations during the war. She and her high school sweetheart, Howard (Pete) Peterson were married at Scarrett Methodist College in Nashville, Tennessee on June 10th 1944. When her husband departed for combat as a pilot with the 8th Air Force in Europe, Jean returned to college to resume her studies.

The achievement Jean and her husband have always been most proud of is the raising of three children who are the most thoughtful, caring and considerate a parent could want. Thankfully, they have passed these wonderful traits on to the grand children and great grand children who are: daughter, Ann Nicholl (deceased), Ann's son Geoffrey of Los Angeles, California; son, Jim and wife Nancy of Garland, Texas, their son, Benjamin and his wife, Michelle of Cedar Park, Texas, and their two boys Carter and Corey; their daughter Melissa O'Brien and husband Shamus of Tomball, Texas and their son Peyton and daughter Kallee; daughter Kay Aielli of Austin, Texas and her daughter Amber and husband Conor of San Antonio, Texas and their daughter Harper.

Jean was an accomplished seamstress providing dance and play costumes, and beautiful Easter outfits for all three children. She loved all things in nature, spending hours with her mother watching migrating birds in the Rio Grande Valley, and especially enjoyed the beauty of the Colorado mountains.

Jean Myatt Peterson was a special lady who will be missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the devoted staffs of Renaissance Assisted Living and AseraCare Hospice-Austin for the love and care they gave Jean.

Visitation will be held from 2pm-4pm, Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home-Austin. Internment will take place at 2:00pm, Monday, June 20, 2016, at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Jean's church-Good News United Methodist, 1610 E. New Hope Dr., Leander, TX 78641.
