Janie Sue Huerta Lindsey

Janie Sue Huerta Lindsey passed away on January 1, 2018. She was the loving daughter to Margarito C. Huerta and Mary Calderon Huerta. Janie grew up in her hometown of Austin, Texas and graduated from Travis High School in 1971. She retired from the National Guard after 20+ years in accounting.

At the time of her passing she enjoyed interacting with her peers at HEB Oakhill, and those at the Veterans Administration Building. Janie made friends everywhere she went as she was uncritical of others. She had a generous and loving heart, as demonstrated in her willingness to care for her friends when they were ill and to always give even at times when she had very little. Janie was strong-willed and resourceful, she had a way of accomplishing tasks in own manner.

Janie enjoyed spending the afternoon fishing or a weekend of camping. She was an entertaining storyteller and an avid bargain shopper, there wasn't a face she couldn't put a smile on or discount aisle that the "clearance queen" couldn't pass up. Janie loved to dance, listen to music, bake for her family and always enjoyed a good movie. She was an animal lover who faithfully cared for her beloved cat Percy and dog Cha-cha. Her grandkids were her life, she loved to shower them with gifts all year long.

Janie was preceded in death by her son John Villegas and her father Margarito C. Huerta. She is survived by her mother Mary Calderon Huerta; siblings Russ Huerta and wife Michelle, Mercy Gil and husband Mark , Michael Huerta and wife Dolores, Mark Huerta and wife Melissa of Austin; daughter Pennie Sachs of Austin, daughter Michelle Galvan and son-in-law Carlos of Austin, daughter Erica Nastasi and son-in-law Rocky of Leander; grandchildren Hunter, Gaerity, Madison, Ayla, Avery, Sebastian, Michael, Isaiah, Luke, Caleb, Liana, Analise; great-grandchildren Ethan, Luke, and Logan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Janie's presence and enthusiasm for life will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Recitation of the rosary will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish South on January 7, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass service will be held January 8, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church,126 W. Oltorf, Austin 78704.
