Jane Leonard Woods, a long-time resident of Austin, Texas, passed away on April 30, 2015. Born Donna Jane Leonard on September 12, 1946 in Jennings Louisiana, Jane was a 1964 graduate of Jennings High School. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the Choir.
She attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in 1968, and following her marriage to Judson Woods, the couple moved to Jennings.
Jane completed post-graduate work in accounting at Lamar University following which she joined the Texas Department of Human Services as an auditor in Beaumont. While in Beaumont, Jane was a very active member of the Beaumont Little Theater.
After several years in Beaumont, Jane moved to Austin, where she continued her service with Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, retiring after 33 years of service.
Jane served as a volunteer on the Supervisory Committee of Greater Texas Federal Credit Union from 2001 to 2011, and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2011. At the time of her death, she was First Vice Chairman of the Board. Jane was very proud of the success of the GTFCU, and often spoke fondly of her colleagues there.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Odessa and A. B. Leonard of Jennings. She is survived by brothers Paul H. Leonard and his wife Yolanda of Dallas, Texas, and Robert Beau Leonard and his wife Karen of Port Washington, New York.
Jane was affectionately known as Aunt Jane by nephews Judson D. Leonard of McKinney, Texas and Scott Leonard of Port Washington, New York along with nieces Katie Jane Spann of Atlanta, GA, Andrea L. Morgan of Atlanta, GA, Leslie C. Leonard of Atlanta, GA, and Lisette Leonard of Port Washington, NY.
Aunt Jane will be sorely missed by her grand-nieces Molly and Maria Leonard, Ella and Lilly Spann, and Cora Anne Morgan as well as by her grand-nephews Jonah, Elijah, and John Paul Leonard, and Dylan Spann.
Aunt Jane deeply loved all of her nieces, nephews, and children, and was extremely proud of their accomplishments.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:00 am, also at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home in Austin, Texas
