James C.(Jim) Kerr, 87, of Austin, Texas, passed away Tuesday at home surrounded by his family.
Jim was born in Christoval, Texas, He also lived in San Angelo, Texas. He graduated from Christoval High School in 1953, later graduated from Park College of Maryland in 1985. He served 27 years in the United States Air Force, with assignments in Europe, Southeast Asia and United States. After retirement from the Air Force he with several Chief Master Sergeants created and organized the Austin Retired Chiefs Society (ARCS) which is active in the Austin community. He was truly a dedicated Airman, devoted husband, and loving father. Eight years were spent on a baseball field as he coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. Jim and Mary Lou Harkins were married in October 1956 in Fort Worth, Texas. After retirement from the USAF he was employed for Bank of America for 10 years, retiring in 1994 and spending the remainder of his life traveling, playing golf and managed to make two Aces.
Jim is preceded in death by daughter Janis, son Rick, and granddaughter Shaunna. Survivors are his beloved wife of 65 years, son Joey and wife Erin of Austin; grandchildren Abby Kerr and Chris Norman of Denver, Colorado; Evan and Alisa Kerr of Austin and Tiffanie and Josh McGill of Mangum, Oklahoma. He has six great grandchildren - Samantha, Corbin, Kiera, Marian, Mason and Austin; great-great grandchildren, Gabriel and Shawna.

Visitation is scheduled July 19 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress, Austin, Texas, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM burial scheduled July 25 at 1:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Veteran Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
