Herminia "Minnie" Salas

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Herminia "Minnie" Salas, was called to join the choirs of angels and her Heavenly Father at the blessed age of 96 surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

She was born in Mendoza, Texas to Francisco and Adalina Valencia, growing up in the Lockhart/East Austin area. There, she met & married her beloved husband of 61 years, Henry Salas. Through WWII and lean times, both built a home and worked together to raise a family of 3 sons and 4 daughters. Through her life, Minnie was source of strength and love through her devout Catholic faith, constantly praying prayers of intercession for those around her. Her strong wisdom and wit, caring heart and amazing cooking abilities kept those around her constantly fed in mind, soul and body. She led her family through faith, hard work and compassion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Adalina; husband, Henry; daughter, Elizabeth; son-in-law, Marcelino Mireles; sister, Maria De La Luz Reyna; and brothers Epifanio, Ernesto and Pedro Valencia.

Minnie is survived by her sister, Ramona Tormos; children, Guadalupe Salas and wife Maria, Gloria Mireles, Mary Esther Baldazo and husband Jesse, Virginia Tovar and husband Manuel, Henry Salas Jr. and wife Mary Esther, Robert Salas and wife Dorothy; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Daniel Mireles, Charlie Salas, Mark Baldazo, Michael Salas, Manuel Tovar, Jr., Christian Salas; and great-grand son Jerome Rodriguez.

Visitation 5:00 pm, Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704 with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm.

Final Visitation 10:00 am followed by Funeral Mass 11:00 am on Monday, January 21, 2019 at St. Julia Catholic Church, 3010 Lyons Rd., Austin, TX 78702. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S Interstate 35, Austin, TX 78704.
