Harriette Cecile Brown Kunz, age 97, died on Sunday, March 14 at Park Bend Health Center, where she had lived since 2004. Harriette was born on November 6, 1912, to parents Fred Brown and Elizabeth Boyd Brown of Austin, the youngest of their twelve children. She attended high school at St. Mary's Academy, graduating in 1928. Harriette was married to Ted Kunz of Austin in 1933. Their life together spanned almost 60 years, until Ted's death in 1993. Harriette was a lifelong member of St. Austin's Catholic Church, where she was active in many organizations and church activities. Her love of music and singing led her to be a devoted and valued member of the choir for many years. In recent years, Harriette was named St. Austin's oldest living member. She is survived by sons Ted Kunz, Jr. of Wimberley, David Kunz and Bill Kunz of Austin, daughters Sue Wetherold and her husband Bob, Jane McCarty, and Cecile Bogan and her husband Tim, all of Austin. She leaves behind ten grandchildren: Heather Kunz, Brian Kunz and his wife Diana, Raque Kunz and his wife Meg, and Blaine Kunz; John Wetherold and his wife Sharyn, Suzanne Wetherold and her husband David, Gabe McCarty and his wife Sabrina, Leah Bogan, Emily Bogan, and Paul Kunz and his wife Aubra, as well as seven great-grandchildren. Harriette will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her church, her beautiful smile, and her wonderful sense of humor, which endeared her to all who knew her. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, North Lamar. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at St. Austin's Catholic Church, 2010 Guadalupe. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Park Bend Health Center and Odyssey Hospice for the loving care they gave to Harriette during her time with them.
