Gilbert Elliott Fox

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Fox; stepson David Dunham and wife Jocelyn Dunham; granddaughter Ashley Sauer and husband Blake Sauer; grandsons Weston Dunham, Samuel Dunham, and Bryan Abernathy; uncle Louis G. (Buddy) Gilbert and wife Ranee Gilbert; and two great-granddaughters, Madison and Mayla Sauer.

His parents, Dr. A. Albert Fox and Jessonda Fox, sister Janelle Sterry, and daughter Rebecca Fox Abernathy preceded him in death.

Gilbert grew up in Dallas and, following graduation from Hillcrest High School, moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, where he earned a degree in accounting. He then enrolled in the University of Texas School of Law, graduating in 1970. He was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in the Taxpayer Advocate Program.

Gilbert enjoyed fishing at the Texas coast, especially with his grandchildren, who viewed each outing a treat. He and Pat maintained a second home in Port Aransas for many years that was enjoyed by family and friends. We will always remember those happy times with Gilbert.

Graveside funeral service will be held at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Monday, July 25, 2022.
