She was a graduate of St. Augustine Academy in Lakewood, Ohio. Gail enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly thereafter and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for most of her enlistment.
She then started her career with the U.S. Department of State. She was posted at the U.S. embassies in Malawi, London, Cairo, Vienna, the Ivory Coast and Santa Domingo and finally Washington, D.C. She retired to Texas to be near her mother, Dorothy Thompson, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lesley and Jack Rogers of San Antonio and Connie and Bill Ricks of Cedar Park.
Gail is predeceased by her father, Les Thompson, and her brother Kurt Thompson. She was a lifelong Cleveland Indians fan and never met a cat she couldn't adopt, foster or feed. There was a crowd waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge.
Thanks to Cindy, Jess and Kevin of Brookdale Hospice for Gail's wonderful care.
It was Gail's wish to have no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any animal charity.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.cookwaldenchapelofthehills.com for the Thompson family.
