Our hearts are heavy with sadness at the passing of Ella Jane Heine Muckleroy, an incredible mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to the many hearts she touched in her 77 years of life. To her family, friends, and colleagues, she was EJ. After a long, courageous battle with breast cancer, EJ passed peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Austin, Texas.
EJ was a Christmas Eve Baby, Born on December 24, 1945, to Grady David Heine and Julia Estelle Heine, EJ grew up in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from Edison High School in 1963, she attended a technical school in San Antonio, learning the insurance field. She began her career in insurance starting with USAA in San Antonio and ultimately retiring from Frost in Austin. She leaves behind many co-workers that became lasting dear friends who use the term "Smile" as the proper word to describe EJ.
EJ loved life, including travel, good food, meeting new people, small animals and the beach, spending many vacations walking in the sand on the shores of Cape Cod. At home she loved watching America's Got Talent, the Hallmark Channel, and of course, football. To her grandchildren, whom EJ adored, she was Nanny and never once missed a birthday or celebration.
EJ leaves behind: her two sons Jack Gage Muckleroy Jr (wife Terry) and James Dee Muckleroy; sister Debra Porter (husband Wayne), brother Grady Heine, sister-in-law Barbara Heine and two grandchildren, Tres and Mia Muckleroy.
Preceding her in death: parents, Grady and Julia Heine, sister Virginia Haney (Mike), brother David Heine and sister-in-law Margaret.
EJ dedicated her life to Jesus Christ and faithfully served her Lord throughout her time on Earth. While we will all miss EJ dearly and will cherish the moments we had with her, we rejoice that she is now at peace and no longer facing the battle of cancer. The world is a better place because of EJ's kind, nurturing and loving spirit.
The family is grateful for the outstanding care from medical team on the second and fifth floors at St. David’s Hospital, 32nd Street, Austin, Texas.

Safely Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder how I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh but Jesus’ love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And he came Himself to meet me
In that was so hard to tread:
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust our Father’s Will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remains,
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
