Claire Smith was a much loved, bright spirit born on March 18, 1992 in San Antonio. She grew up in Austin, where she learned to love Barton Springs and running around the lake. She was a student at Garza High School, where she enjoyed the support of her teachers and fellow students. Claire loved animals and could connect to any person or animal in a very direct way. Her authenticity defined her character. She was never judgmental and accepted everyone with her arms wide open. Claire is preceded in death by her grandparents Paul and Kathryn Hanagriff of Port Allen, Louisiana; and her grandfather Rodney Smith of Stratford-on-Avon, England. Still here to miss her are her mother Erin Hanagriff and partner Lisa Tipps; father Jeremy and wife Debi Smith; siblings Bailey, Natalie and Nicholas Smith; grandmother Kathleen Smith; many uncles, aunts and cousins; her numerous friends; and Soda the Cat. There will be a memorial service in the Chapel of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20th. Donations can be made in memory of Claire Smith to the Palmer Drug Abuse Program of Austin.
