Edie graduated from Austin High School in Houston, where she was a member of the Scottish Brigade. At the University of Houston in 1948, she met an ROTC cadet named John Conner Musgrove. She agreed to marry him on their third date, and became Mrs. John C. Musgrove on June 30, 1950. Edie was a loving and supportive Army Officer's wife. During their 20 years as a military family they moved 20 times, finally settling in Austin in 1972. Edie always took pride in making their house a home: her table was always full, her kitchen was always busy, and the cookie jar was never empty.
The Musgroves were well known in the Austin and Westlake communities through their military circles, car clubs, and charity work. Edie served in leadership roles in multiple organizations, including Austin Area Garden Council, Retired Officers' Wives Club, West Lake Hills Garden Club, and Westlake United Methodist Women. She was also involved in Women's Storybook Project, Hill Country Region Porsche Club of America and Hill Country Chapter of the Ferrari Club of America. She and John were named Porsche Family of the Year in 2008, and it was not uncommon to see Edie in one of the family Porsches, zipping down the roads of Austin and entering (and winning) many car shows.
Edie was joyfully active throughout her life, attending F1 races with friends and family, and waterskiing on Lake Austin (including 20 miles "dam-to-dam" on her birthday). Edie always loved a party and was looking forward to celebrating her birthday with close friends and family.
Edie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, John C. Musgrove, and their devoted blue heeler Bonnie. She is survived by her children, Ann Louise Vinores; John Musgrove and his wife, Margaret; James Musgrove; and Jeff Musgrove and his wife, Judy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Olson, her husband, Tom, and their children, Tyler, Evan, and Keira; Tammi Vinores; Charles Vinores, his wife, Jessica, and their children, Neil and Riley; Marla Hogle, her husband, Tim, and their daughter, Sadie; Elaine Curtis and her husband, Andrew; Morgan Gallagher and her husband, Ryan; Eric Vinores and his husband, Tracy; Madeline Kacsinta and her husband, Pierre; April Dolan and her husband, Stephen; Rebecca Musgrove and her fiancé, Joseph; Rachel Musgrove and her fiancé, Tyler; and Jason Musgrove.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Brookdale Westlake for making Edie's final days so comfortable.
A celebration of life will be held at Westlake United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 10th at 5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edie's name may be made to the Austin Area Garden Center, 2220 Barton Springs Rd, 78746.
