Douglas D. Moore passed from this life on October 1, 2012. Doug was born August 22, 1936, in Austin, Texas. Surviving family are his devoted wife of 46 years, Marie O. Moore, son Jordan Moore, his wife Sandra, their children Cody and Katelyn of Liberty Hill, daughter Bonnie Moore Ortiz, her husband Kevin, their children Adam and Sarah of Austin, sister Barbara Castleberry and husband Danny of Temple and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Leo and Rena Moore, brothers Bill, Leo and Ira; sisters Anna Bell Butler, Dorothy Polvado, Charlene Borders, Adlene Rena Moore, Catherine Bassett, and Shirley Henzen.
Doug retired from the State Comptroller’s Office in 2003. He was highly respected by his colleagues and many others for his integrity, work ethic and his ability to speak his beliefs and to live his faith and principles. Doug’s courage and determination during his 17-year battle with cancer and other illness was an inspiration to all. His family is grateful to many medical professionals. He was a true gentleman and a cherished husband and father. Grandad will be loved and missed forever.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Larry Covington at 11 a.m. Thursday October 4, 2012, at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Road, Austin. Private interment.
