Dorothy "Dottie" Irene Edgar

Dorothy was raised as an only child in Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and then went on to travel to Minnesota, completing Western Union’s training courses to assist in the war efforts.

In 1946, Dorothy moved to Austin, Texas and married the love of her life, Joseph Isaac Edgar. Joseph was a war veteran who required much of Dottie’s time, patience, and love once he returned. Dorothy and Joseph lived to have two children, Rox Martin Edgar and Nancy Jo Edgar.

Dorothy was a loving, caring, strong, and devoted individual. She loved to play golf, go dancing, and garden. She will forever be remembered for her strength and devotion to her family and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edgar. Dorothy is survived by her two children, Rox and Nancy, her four grandchildren, Nicole Edgar Jackson, Darcy Christine Edgar Robinson, Adam Edgar Lewis, and Joseph Allen Edgar, and her 9 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held for Dorothy on Tuesday, September 10th, at 11:00 AM at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Dr. Austin, Texas 78731.
