Diana Courtney (Wilks) Colon, came into this life on January 4th 1989. The Lord called her home at 5:02 pm, October 16 2014, after a 22 month battle with Leukemia. (Her motto became "Fight Like A Girl"). She was at home, surrounded by all her family, and dearest friends. She graduated high school through The University of Texas. She earned her Bachelors degree from Texas State University in 2011. She was an Asst Dept Mgr with HEB, where she had work in many dept for the last 7 years. She truly, truly loved her HEB Family.
She is survived by high school sweetheart and loving husband Lee Michael Colon. Diana and Lee just celebrated their third anniversary October 8th. Other survivors include: her parents Chuck and Eunice (Whited) Wilks; her brother Matthew and his wife Tara (sister of her heart); nieces Lauren and Megan Wilks; brother Jacob Wilks and his fiancee Alyssa Johnston; paternal grandfather Wilfred Wilks; maternal grandmother Joyce Whited; her loving mother in law Pamela Henderson; sister in laws Brandy Colon and Misty Colon; nieces Mikela and Mikenzie; nephew Mikael; "Bonus" grandparents Phil Henderson and Barbara Henderson; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides; and sisters of her heart, Tishun Foley, Kayla Gilaspy and Jazmine Rodgers.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather James (Sonny) Whited and paternal grandmother Kathleen Wilks.
Diana loved her nieces and nephew; they were her pride and joy. She was always taking them on trips she went on and loved to take them shopping with her.
Diana was on the drill team throughout junior high and high school. She loved to dance.
Her favorite saying is YOLO. You Only Live Once. She was the best daughter anyone could have ever asked for and will be missed beyond words.
Diana became an advocate for Be The Match Foundation and would be honored if everyone would be inspired to join their fight.
During her long battle Diana had wonderful care from her nurses at South Austin Medical Center. She had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends who helped her and the family in any way they could.
Visitation will be Sunday October 19th from 3 to 9 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave, Austin, Texas 78704.
Funeral services will be 11am Monday October 20th at Bethany Lutheran Church, 3701 W Slaughter Ln, Austin, TX 78749. Interment to follow at Haynie Chapel Cemetery, 16415 Greenwood Dr, Del Valle, TX 78617.
Pallbearers are (cousin) Keith Wilks, and her Garner brothers, Matthew, Micah,and Mark Kersh, Josh and Jon Pennington, and Taylor and Davis Gill.
In lieu of flowers, Lee asked that donations be made to the Be the Match Foundation.
